May 1st Garden

Today was first lawn mow day.  That means for the next 5 months I will need to mow at least once a week.  I don't like to mow, but I do like the end results.  A freshly mowed lawn goes with a refreshing shower, a good meal cooked on the grill, and a cool drink on the porch.

I've decided to take pictures of my garden(s) on the first of each month during the summer, and then whenever I feel the urge to snap photos of the changing flowerscape.  Right now there isn't much, but here's my garden/yard on May 1st:

The daisies have spread everywhere, so some will be dug up and transplanted to other loving homes.  There are lots of weeds to pull, and many goosey-heads to yank (they have spread over the whole back of the garden and must be culled!).  So we'll see where I plant my seeds and bulbs for the summer.  Can't wait to start planting and see some color.

  1. Thanks for the pics, that is one large yard to mow. It's a good workout though. considering my yard is weed haven, yours looks great.

  3. Thanks Ladies! My back yard is large, but my front is very tiny. Bud gave me the bleeding hearts years ago, and they pop up every spring like clockwork. Those and the daffodils are the only things that are blooming (and a few tulips, too).

  4. Your yard looks great! Even without being in it's full Summer splendor yet, it's so nice and green and fresh. It'll be just gorgeous in no time, with all the TLC you give it every year. I can't wait to see those new bulbs you bought pop up!

We took a good look around the back yard over the weekend and realized that it's time to call in the pros. We've been invaded by those nasty lawn terorists... grubs! Can I just say, Eeewww! So of course, where you find those disgusting creepy crawlies, you also find their primary predators. Moles. grrr!

We might as well have a sign on the lawn saying "Now Open, Mrs B's Creepy Critter Cafe"! Dang! The pros can't get here soon enough. We've handled it ourselves other years, but hubs is just totally over it this time. Me too.

Anywhooo, I hope you get rid of your little grub muncher soon. Don't get me wrong; I love almost all of God's creatures, but there are a few of them that just. have. to. go.

    Have a great week!
    XOXO, Mrs B
